A Father’s Take
Word from Wiese
21 June 2023
Happy Father’s Day… a few days late.
At COS on Sunday, we passed out pops for pops! (Actually, all people got in on the tasty treat). Plus, we considered some Father Wishes from the Son’s Instructions in the sermon.
At home, hope you dads enjoyed the meal and moments of your choosing!
But as we move away from that special day and menu, and move back into our ongoing duty and delight of fathering, be edified with this encouraging and inspiring testimony from COS father extraordinaire, Eric McDowell. Thank you, Eric!
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your gift of earthly fathers and all those who pour faithful guidance into our lives. Bless them and steer our fathers, so that their presence pleases you and therefore shapes us well. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Scripture that can be read in the spirit of fatherhood:
[Paul writes.] We were gentle among you, like a nurse tenderly caring for her own children. So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you have become very dear to us… As you know, we dealt with each one of you like a father with his children, urging and encouraging you and pleading that you lead a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory. We also constantly give thanks to God for this, that, when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word but as what it really is, God’s word, which is also at work in you believers.1 Thessalonians 2.7-8, 11-13
