Music
Music is a vital part of the worship experience at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, and there are numerous ways you can get involved, from vocals to instruments.
Sing
Sing for the traditional services every week, August through May, as well as for special events. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 pm., and 20 minutes before the Sunday services.
Lead the contemporary service several Sundays each month. The group features singers accompanied by electric and acoustic guitars, drums, and keyboard on a rotating schedule. Engage in choral and instrumental instruction with Bible learning activities. Program on Wednesdays at 4:30 pm.
Sing anthems for worship, present a musical each spring, and sing in the Children’s Christmas Program. Practice on Wednesdays, 5:00-5:30 pm.
Engage with music and movement, and prepare to perform during worship services. This is where church music starts at Christ Our Shepherd! Practice on Wednesdays, 5:00-5:30 pm.
PLAY AN INSTRUMENT
Play brass music with trumpets, French horns, trombones, euphoniums, tuba, and saxophones. Accompany the Sanctuary Choir during festival services. Rehearsals are on Sunday evenings, 7:00-8:00 pm.
Play flutes, clarinets, oboes, and bassoons during worship and on special occasions. Rehearsals are on Mondays from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Combine with other musicians and ensembles to enhance worship music using timpani, chimes, marimba, glockenspiel, congas, and a host of other percussion instruments. Rehearsals occur as necessary.
Join forces with other COS Brass, Woodwind Choir, and Percussion Artists to create a wind ensemble which supports worship music on festival occasions at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. Rehearsals occur as necessary.
ring handbells
Ring 5 octaves of Malmark handbells and 5 octaves of Malmark choir chimes, plus Petit & Fritsen Flemish handbells. This handbell choir is made up of experienced ringers. Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00 pm.
Ring handbells. Music reading is helpful but not required, and no previous ringing experience is expected. This flexible handbell group rehearses Tuesdays, 4:00-5:00 pm.
Prepare anthems for worship and learn fundamentals of music and bell ringing. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 4:30-5:00 pm.
An introduction to instrumental church music, Play Malmark choir chimes and learn basics of music reading and ringing. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 4:30-5:00 pm.
