I plugged in my tree last week and three strands of lights were out. For the last week, I just forgot about decorating it. Said, “oh well” “who cares” “next year”. Today, I added a strand of lights (even those had lights out). But it made a big improvement! From there, I finished the ornaments and garland. I was nearly crying as I pulled out all the ornaments and the memories they brought to mind. My silly broken tree reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas- we are all broken “lights out, branches falling off”. But because OF Christmas, none of that matters. Jesus came into the world and fixed it all. Even if my tree is not “perfect”, it has prepared my heart for the One who is.
