Advent 2020: Christmas Trees

I plugged in my tree last week and three strands of lights were out. For a week, I just forgot about decorating it. I said, “oh well”, “who cares”, “next year”. Today, I added a strand of lights (even those had bulbs out), but it made a big improvement! From there, I finished the ornaments and garland. I was nearly crying as I pulled out all the ornaments and was flooded by the memories they brought to mind. My silly, broken tree reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas – we are all broken – lights out and branches falling off. But because OF Christmas, none of that matters. Jesus came in to the world and fixed it all. Even if my tree is not perfect, it has prepared my heart for the One who is. Merry Christmas!! ❤️
