Beautiful Places

Beautiful Places

21 September 2022

In God’s hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it, and the dry land, which his hands have formed.
Psalm 95.4-5

Beautiful Places - Arches National ParkIf today goes as scheduled, I’m currently adventuring in the “hoo-doos” of Bryce Canyon National Park as you read this. What a delight to be exploring God’s creation with one of the most beautiful people I know, my daughter, Morgan. After graduating from UGA magna cum laude this spring and then serving as a counselor at Camp Luther, Morgan is now taking a “gap” month or two exploring some of the most beautiful places of God’s design, our national parks. I’m delighted I got invited to join Morgan and her camp friend for this week of Utah exploration . . . and also for the opportunity to pick up the bill for a week of hotel rooms and a nice reprieve from the car camping she’s been doing. 😀

Here’s my schedule for exploring beautiful places with my beautiful daughter:

  • Monday—Canyonlands National Park
  • Tuesday—Arches National Park
  • Wednesday—Bryce Canyon National Park
  • Thursday—hiking the “Narrows” of Zion National Park
  • Friday—summiting “Angel’s Landing” in Zion National Park
Palmetto Road

But you know what?   I’m thrilled that one of the most beautiful places I know is right in Fayette County:  our own sensational 33-acre Palmetto Road property!  It’s a beautiful place where God is calling some beautiful people to gather for fun and faith at least two different times in the next couple of weeks:

As Jesus followers, we follow how Jesus approached life.  And Jesus spent intentional times out in nature, around lakes, mountains and fields.   Not only does Jesus model holy time in natural glory like Palmetto Road, but Scripture encourages us to go to nature to ask about life;   “Ask the animals, and they will teach you, the birds of the air, and they will tell you. Ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you, and the fish of the sea will declare to you.  Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?  In God’s hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.”  Job 12.7-10

Hope to see you beautiful people soon at our beautiful Palmetto Road,

Pastor Fritz

Let us pray.

Thanks for the incredible gift of my home, which provides a safe and comfortable indoor setting.   I’m grateful!  But push me to also explore the wonders of your wonderful outdoors where your Holy Spirit works in special ways!  May you bless our congregation’s upcoming worship and Oktoberfest, that we might grow closer to you and each other in this gorgeous outdoor, lake-side setting.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
