As I write this on Sunday, I don’t know who will win the election. Or I might say, “has won,” as you read this on Wednesday.

Regarding the election results, about half of you are feeling pleased. The other half discouraged.

As I wrote to you in my “Will You Be OK?” WFW on October 9, I’m convinced that while the performance and character of our top leaders matter very deeply, the health of our future is determined profoundly also by folks like you and me, day in and day out. So, let’s get to work serving our Lord and neighbors! May God bless our dear nation as we do so.

2 Corinthians 13:11 offers a good word for our nation this morning:

“Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.”

Additionally, I believe President Lincoln’s call to American’s citizenry in his Second Inaugural Address’s conclusion offers wisdom for our nation’s moment, seven score and 19 years after he originally shared it: “With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan–to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves, and with all nations.”

And hey, since you made it through all those political commercials, maybe you deserve a laugh or two. Here you go . . .
