What’s In the Gift Box?
23 October 2024
“What’s in the Gift Box?” On Sunday we launched our series exploring God’s call for us to be Stewards of God’s Mysteries, based on 1 Corinthians 4:1-2.
“What’s In the Gift Box?” is our first mini-mystery. We didn’t need to call in Sherlock Holmes. We just opened up Scripture, together, and discovered afresh how God gives each and every one of us a tailor-made life full of spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences. The Lord richly equips each of us, in our own ways, to succeed as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
We don’t need to covet or compare ourselves to other’s pathways. We don’t need fake personalities or costumes. If we just trust the Lord to help us be the best version of the person God made us to be, all will be well, and we’ll contribute to the Lord’s plans.
As promised, find below some “clues” or “pieces of evidence” as you undertake your own investigation into God’s mystery of your own gift box and generosity.

If you missed the chance in worship to offer your Ministry Interest Form, click here. With 137 turned in so far, we’re within striking distance to shoot beyond our goal of 150! It should take less than 3 minutes to complete and shares with COS leadership how you’d like to function in our faith family.
In the game Clue, was the kitchen was the scene of the crime? Check out these two bakers and their discovery in the kitchen about satisfying priorities.
How many witnesses can you count in this quick interview? Does each one offer an alibi or strong theory about what God has placed in their own gift boxes?
I’m no Sherlock Holmes, Matlock, or Columbo, but if you missed worship and want my best theories regarding what might be in YOUR gift box, and more background on your identity as a Steward of God’s Mysteries, click here for my sermon.
This Sunday, we enjoy celebrating Reformation, a movement that took on all kinds of questions. But we look forward on November 3 to a guest appearance from Detective Shipman and associates while on November 10 we ask “What’s the Future Look Like?”
Questions for consideration
- What are my top 3 spiritual gifts?
- What’s one God-given gifts or abilities I enjoy?
- Why does Scripture call me a “servant of Christ” and “steward of the mysteries of God.”
- What is one of God’s mysteries that 1 Corinthians 4 is talking about? How would I explain this to somebody?
Investigating with you,
Pastor Fritz
